Location: Mid Wales (Welshpool and surrounding areas)
Employment Type: Bank /Employed 0 hr contract (Flexible over a 24/7 period) Subject to enhanced DBS check.
Pay Rates:
- Weekdays (9am–9pm): £15/hour
- Weekday Nights & Weekends (9pm–9am): £17/hour

About the Role: Support Worker
We are looking for professional, compassionate Support Workers, who work within a person centred manner and trauma informed approach, to assist in the safe and secure transport of patients experiencing mental health difficulties. Working alongside our ambulance crew, you will help create a calm and supportive environment, ensuring patients feel respected and protected throughout their journey.
Key Responsibilities:

Support patients in safely boarding and disembarking from the ambulance.

Provide both emotional and physical support during transportation.

Monitor patient well-being and report any changes or concerns.

Drive the ambulance when required, following all safety and compliance guidelines.

Ensure patients are secure, comfortable, and have access to necessary and relevant essentials during the journey.

Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure all supplies are stocked and ready.

Support with documentation and maintain accurate patient records.

Follow health and safety procedures, including infection control measures.

Attend all mandatory training, meetings, and reviews as required.

Respond appropriately to emergencies under the guidance of trained staff.

Promptly report accidents, complaints, or anything unusual to the Service Delivery Manager.

Wear the company uniform with pride at all times while on duty.

Promote a culture of dignity, respect, and professionalism.

Maintain clear communication between the ambulance crew and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless person centred patient care.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Essential:
- Good verbal and written English communication.
- Full UK driving licence (max 6 points).
- Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding, and patient rights.
- Willingness to work flexibly, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Experience in healthcare, support work, or patient transport.
- Familiarity with mental health care and/or working with vulnerable individuals.
- First Aid or Emergency First Response certification (training available).
- Calm under pressure with excellent interpersonal skills.
- The ability to speak Welsh.
- An Enhanced DBS
